Set against a backdrop of basalt mountains and lush desert scenery, the city of Tucson is a complex cultural melting pot. It has a tumultuous past: settled by Hohokam Indians more than 4,000 years ago, passing first through Spanish and Mexican control before becoming part of the United States.

The discovery of rich mineral deposits in the mountains turned the region into a hub for mining innovation, while an influx of cattle ranching established Tucson as the dude ranch capital of the world. It was a frontier town that frequently intersected with bandits and robbers who exploited the remote landscape to evade the law.

Modern day Tucson doesn't turn its back on its past: adobe structures with Spanish mission details are mixed in with sleek modernist homes, local culture and arts are heavily influenced by Mexican heritage. It is a celebration of the way people have shaped and been shaped by the rugged beauty of the desert.

Tucson is a city that grew out of the dangers, opportunities and cultural crossing of the Old West to become a vibrant and dynamic destination. This hotel continues in this tradition, by paying homage to the desert and the gritty resilience of those that have come before while setting the tone for what the new Southwest looks like.
